Stage 4: Understanding the Judge's Decision
Navigating Detention
How do I contact a loved one who is in detention?
You can usually contact a loved one in immigration detention by phone or mail. Each detention center has its own rules for how people in custody can make and receive calls, and most facilities use a paid phone service. You can look up the detention center on ICE’s website or call the facility directly to ask about how to set up an account to receive calls.

If you don’t know where your loved one is being held, you can use the ICE Detainee Locator (https://locator.ice.gov) to search by their name, country of birth, or A-number.

Remember that phone calls from detention are often monitored, so avoid discussing sensitive details about a case over the phone.
