How to Pay Asylum Filing Fees

Recent changes in asylum law now require applicants to pay a $100 initial fee when submitting
Form I-589 and a $102 annual fee for each year the application is pending.1 These fees apply to
both USCIS (affirmative asylum) and EOIR (immigration court). This guide explains who must
pay the asylum fees, and the different ways to do so with the following agencies: United States
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Immigration Court (EOIR).
